If you like the sound of the ocean yet are not near water then you should definitely check out Lighthouses Queensland. This is where you can get some really great views as well as some of the best fishing spots. There are over 40 different islands in this region, so you will have plenty to do. The Lighthouses is now known as a World Heritage Site and is listed by UNESCO as such. In fact it is one of the oldest cities in the entire world. The Victorian era was a big influence on the area, so there are lots of Victorian buildings to be found here.
It is home to many species of wildlife including koalas, emus and wombats among others. A popular attraction is the Woolloomooloo Island Marine Park, which is a World Heritage Site. You can also go whale watching from here during winter or even when the weather is bad. There are plenty of resorts here where you can stay and spend the night if you are looking for a place to relax. Most of the Lighthouses are within a walking distance of the sea so you can just walk to them and board the ferry that will take you to the island.
There are also plenty of accommodation options including lodges, hotels, cabins, campsites and bed and breakfast establishments. This means that you can find something to suit every budget. As these lighthouses are listed as World Heritage Sites, you do not even have to worry about getting a visa to stay on the island. There are many tourists that come here on holiday only to return year after year because they love the natural beauty and the tranquil atmosphere that surround them.
