Lighthouses Around the World
There are many beautiful lighthouses around the world, and this new book will provide a history lesson of each one. Ross has spent his entire career studying lighthouses, and although he has visited many of them, he has never been inside each one. The photographs in this book come from photographers, global agencies, and Ross himself. This book will leave you inspired to visit these incredible structures yourself! And, you’ll be glad you did!
The Isle Vierge, in France, is home to the “Phare de l’ile Vierge” (The Fourteenth Lighthouse). Securite maritime – Les Phares et Balises is a French publication about the history of lighthouses. The Isle Vierge, near the town of Premantura, has the “Phare de l’ile Vierge” in France. The island is named for the boulders lying beneath the point, which Captain Cook called nuggets. The 1870 lighthouse was constructed by the British. The Point Reyes Lighthouse, near the town of Mendocino, is also on the California coast. The Point Reyes Lighthouse, with a twin on Cape Mendocino, is the tallest in the world. Despite its size, this lighthouse is often enveloped by heavy freezing winds, but when the weather is clear, it affords a breathtaking view of the coastline.
