The lighthouse terrace is a rare combination of design elements that combines both luxury and functionality. It was designed by award winning architect Arthur Hills in 1963. He set out to create a building that would act as an anchor in one of the most beautiful and unique cities in America – Pensacola Florida. The result is a landmark building that rises dramatically out of a narrow peninsula jutting out into the Gulf of Mexico.
The house itself was created out of two different types of concrete designs. The first being a simple and low-sloped building which housed his office, a library and a couple of reception rooms. The second was a much more ornate and grand design, which included three stories and an eighty-one-foot high atrium. The exterior was designed to mimic that of a lighthouse so that even after it had been incorporated into the interior design, visitors would be reminded of the location of the house even when they were not on the beach.
The lighthouse terrace is just one aspect of this remarkable home. There is no doubt that it will continue to be a main attraction well into the future. It is a spectacular setting that offers breathtaking ocean views from every angle. Once you have seen all that is has to offer you will probably agree that it is just about perfect for spending your summer holidays.
