Many of America’s lighthouses have been restored. Some of the earliest lighthouses still stand in New England. Other impressive lighthouses include the Heceta Head Lighthouse in Oregon, Pigeon Point Lighthouse in California, and the Boston Light in Massachusetts.
The Cape Hatteras Lighthouse is one of the most iconic buildings along the Outer Banks. Located in Buxton, NC, it is the nation’s tallest lighthouse. The tower is famous for its spiral marking and is one of the most iconic structures on the Outer Banks.
There are seven lighthouses in North Carolina. These are spread from the Outer Banks to the Brunswick Islands. The Roanoke River Lighthouse sits along the Roanoke River. This replica of the lighthouse overlooks the Lost Colony of Roanoke. It is also located near the town of Edenton, which features a maritime museum.
