The Lighthouse of Lithia Filipina – A Brief History

If you were ever to set foot into the town of lighthouse, Florida, one of the first things that you would notice is the American flag flying atop a lighthouse. It is said that every American who lived in the city paid homage to this site every single day. This is because the lighthouse was built by the US Military during the Spanish-American War. Today, tourists can take a cruise along the coast of Florida and visit the lighthouse from sunset to sunrise.

Every year around June, the City of Lithia Filipina hosts what is known as the Hispanic Cherry Blossom Festival. Every June, families from all over the area gather at the lighthouse to celebrate and show support for the Lighthouse Parish. In the past, the lighthouse was a major sea ferry line and the townspeople used it to get to and from the mainland. Today, with the help of the tourism business, the entire town has been transformed into a tourist attraction. You will be able to marvel at the historical aspect of the lighthouse, take in the beautiful scenery, shop and dine at one of the many restaurants, or just sit and relax on one of the benches lining the waterfront.

You will find that there are many activities that your family can participate in during the event. The Catholic Church is sponsoring a special fundraising event that will allow you and your family to participate in the volunteer work of the lighthouse organization. You can also visit the St. Ignatius Lighthouse, where you can tour the entire structure while you listen to live music performed by a string quartet. Afterward, head over to the Garden District to see a display of fireworks during the night of the festival.
