For those who have been following the career of Søren Nymar, the band that he formed back in 1984 called Lighthouse X is now going through a name change. Søren Bregard was the band’s singer/guitarist before Martin Skrader took over the lead guitar role and the band’s sound gradually took shape until it eventually became known as Lighthouse X. In fact, Martin Skrader even considered changing the name to help him get a lot more exposure, but he ultimately decided against it. Instead, he opted to concentrate on his musical interests and moved back to Denmark where he met his wife. The couple had two children before they finally decided to name the band that they had created “Lighthouse.”
After relocating to Denmark, the band decided to move to America and tour there. Along the way, they managed to develop their musical style and their lyrics and instrumentation took shape. Eventually, they decided to form what would become the hit song, “Lovers’ Only Paradise.” “Lighthouse” also became one of the most popular songs from the mid ’80s and was certified platinum by the American Recording Industry. In addition, the band was able to get themselves signed to Arista Records and they released three additional Lighthouse albums that year.
When “Lovers’ Only Paradise” was finally released, it quickly became a huge hit single and soon went gold. The song became a worldwide sensation and is still one of the best selling songs in the world. Nowadays, the band still performs regularly and has even released an album entitled, “Lighthouse: A Tribute to the Brave.” Despite being a quintessential song of the past, “Lighthouse: A Tribute to the Brave” offers something new for the present day. The band members have also gone on to form the very successful band, The Arctic Monkeys. While many fans were disappointed with the single, it still managed to sell over three hundred copies in its first week alone.
